Traditions of the Future Exhibit Tour

Wednesday, February 19, 2020

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

The Mathers Museum of World Cultures
416 N Indiana Ave.
Bloomington, IN 47408
Join Traditional Arts Indiana in celebrating the master artists and apprentices who participated in the first two years of the Traditional Arts Indiana Apprenticeship Program. In recognition of the accomplishments of 2018 and 2019 apprenticeship teams, TAI has prepared an exhibit titled "Traditions of the Future: Apprenticeships and Traditional Arts in Indiana" on display at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures. TAI Director Jon Kay and co-curator Jennie Williams will lead a tour of the exhibit, with pizza to follow.

With support from Indiana University, the Mathers Museum of World Cultures, Indiana Remixed, the Indiana Arts Commission, and the National Endowment for the Arts, the TAI Apprenticeship Program works with master folk artists to teach their traditional knowledge and skills to the next generation. In showcasing the exemplary creative practices of master artists and their apprentices based throughout the state, this exhibit demonstrates how folk and traditional arts continue to thrive in Indiana while remaining rooted in family, ethnic and community traditions.

The Mathers Museum of World Cultures is free and open to the public. This exhibit will remain on display through spring 2020.
